Natural Resouce Management

Sustainable agriculture for a better tomorrow

We are dedicated to promoting sustainable and environmentally friendly practices that not only preserve our natural resources but also enhance the livelihoods of the communities we serve. Our NRM initiatives focus on three key areas: Natural Farming, Integrated Farming, and Slope Agriculture & Land Technology.

Natural Farming

Embrace Organic Growth and Sustainability

Natural farming, also known as organic farming, is a method of farming that relies on natural processes and inputs, minimizing the use of synthetic chemicals. Our initiatives in natural farming aim to:

  • Enhance Soil Health: Through the use of natural compost, green manure, and crop rotation, we improve soil fertility and structure.
  • Pest and Disease Management: Utilize natural pest control methods such as biological pest control, organic pesticides, and companion planting to maintain crop health.
  • Water Conservation: Implement rainwater harvesting, drip irrigation, and mulching to optimize water usage.
  • Biodiversity: Encourage the cultivation of diverse crops and the integration of beneficial plants that attract pollinators and improve ecosystem balance.

Integrated Farming

Synergizing Agricultural Practices for Maximum Efficiency

Integrated farming combines crops, livestock, and aquaculture on a single farm to optimize resources, reduce risks, and increase profitability. Our approach includes:

  • Crop-Livestock Integration: Livestock provide manure for soil fertility, and crops feed the livestock.
  • Aquaculture Integration: Fish farming is combined with rice cultivation, enriching the soil with fish waste.
  • Agroforestry: Trees are planted with crops and livestock to enhance biodiversity and soil quality, providing additional income from timber and fruits.
  • Waste Recycling: Agricultural waste is converted into compost or livestock feed, creating a closed-loop system.

Slope Agriculture & Land Technology

Harnessing Hills and Slopes for Sustainable Farming

In areas with hilly or sloping terrain, Slope Agriculture Land Technology (SALT) offers a methodical approach to stabilize and farm these landscapes. Our SALT initiatives focus on:

  • Contour Farming: Plowing along the contour lines to prevent soil erosion and conserve water.
  • Terracing: Creating stepped levels on the slopes to reduce runoff and improve water retention.
  • Agroforestry on Slopes: Planting trees and shrubs along the contours to stabilize soil and provide additional resources like fruits, firewood, and fodder.
  • Cover Cropping: Growing cover crops to protect the soil from erosion, improve soil fertility, and suppress weeds.
